GOSS is named for an early settler, Dr. Zeno Goss. It was known as Rogers prior to being named Goss. It was on the route of the Illinois Central Railroad and developed as a small village with one church, The Goss Baptist Church, a small grocery store/gas station and the Georgia-Pacific lumberyard. The Willoughby family are long time residents of Goss, Mississippi.
